No glib title today

Update: she's doing OK - the surgery went well, but she might need more surgery, and this could happen again. It's a serious, potentially life-threatening condition, but she's over the worst for now. She'll be in the hospital for at least the next few days. Her upcoming trip to Europe is off, and no flying for at least a month or two, so she may not come visit us in September. She's taking it all pretty well, and I'm OK staying here for now. J and I are actually (if all goes well) going to a B&B overnight from Sunday to Monday. J's parents will stay with the kiddos. First time in about 2 years we've had any significant time alone together. When I'm not worrying about my mom, I'm counting the minutes. Thank you for your kind comments.

Anybody know a good florist in new York City?

This post is not even a little bit about breastfeeding.

No, I just learned that my mom is in surgery for a spontaneous pheumothorax (partially collapsed lung), possibly a complication of bronchitis or asthma. My dad, who is none to good himself at taking care of his health, has been trying to call me all afternoon, but I didn't check my messages. 1200 miles feel so very far away right now, and it is so different to experience something like this being a mother myself. Under the best case scenario, she'll be in the hospital for a week and have to recoer at home after that.

I so wish I could just drop everything and go out there, but I'm also so very much pulled to stay with my boys unless I really need to be there. I'll know more soon, and maybe then it'll be clear what the right thing is.

If you're the praying type, I'd be grateful.

Enjoy the time away. Well deserved!

I'm a bit late with the well wishes, but glad to know the surgery went well and hopefully the worst is over. I hope you can relax and enjoy your BandB weekend.
